Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 6 got its inspiration from sleek German luxury sports cars (a favorite of MJ’s). It was made to make Michael look fast and furious on the court. That heel tab? Look at it as a rear spoiler. The translucent sole? Tail lights … which is what most of Jordan’s opponents saw when they played against him.
But the 6 is more than just a race car. Hatfield designed two grip holes in the rubber tongue for no-hassle on/off, and the iconic outsole features an innovative cylindrical dot pattern that offers premium traction on the court, so you can turn on a dime.
