The kids’ Nike Kybrid is basically the king of kids’ Nike basketball shoes. Inspired by Uncle Drew, these kicks were designed by footwear wizard Ben Nethongkome. Rather than start from scratch, Nethongkome pulled all of the favorite elements of previous Kyrie shoes into one. For example, you’ll quickly notice the padding around the ankle and the reinforced heel stem from the Kyrie 6. This will help your kid feel stable and secure as they’re jumping for the ball or sprinting around the playground.
Other familiar features are the lightweight mesh and strap across the top. These come from the Kyrie 5, and they help keep your child’s foot locked down for more confident movements. Finally, the cushioning comes directly from the Kyrie 4. It’s a soft foam that gives your little one extra padding as they bound and leap.
Way to Compare
You might notice the kids’ Nike Kybrid bears a slight resemblance to kids’ Nike Speed Turf shoes. Both feature ankle cushioning and foam cushioning, but Speed Turf shoes are meant more for football than basketball. Another line with comparable silhouettes is the kids’ Nike Air Max shoes. You can’t go wrong with these if your kid likes running. But if basketball is their primary goal, the Nike Kybrid is key.
